Out in the vapors of the Internet, many people are trying to accomplish some very good things. One such thing is the repeal or overturning of the marijuana laws. However, there is an entity, if you will, who is allegedly trying to accomplish the same thing, but in reality, he is accomplishing the opposite.
This person goes by the name "Bong Rip." He is on MySpace on on Stickam. He has a cultish following of mostly very young people, who are encouraged to light up on camera on Stickam. The young women are encouraged to be scantily clad and to show their breasts and behinds. He will offer to take the room private so you can flash (I know this because he just offered to do that to me last week).
He self-promotes his self-produced and self-manufactured CD, "Marijuana the Band" and encourages his followers to buy the CD as well as to request songs from the CD from the large radio station in California.
Followers of Bong Rip are said to be in the "Stoner Army." They can earn "rank." These followers apparently like this rank system as they incorporate their ranks into their screen names so it is very easy to tell who is a follower of this fake messiah. Why an "army?" No "stoner family" for this guy. Don't ask, because he does not tolerate people who questions his way and you will be banned out quite quickly, called a buzz kill, and eventually if you ask too many questions you may find yourself banned for life. At one point, Bong Rip banned out a representative from LEAP (Law Enforcement Against Prohibition). This was back when he was on Userplane. That user was extremely polite, informative and a true activist.
The easiest way, in my humble opinion, to tell that this man is not at all an activist, is that he has "lifetime bans" against certain people. No movement ever bans people. But an army with a general does. A dictactor does. A Jim Jones-Charlie Manson personality does.
One last thing that just really bugs me, the man lies about his age. He's in his 40s and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that, but insists he is 30. One look at this person will tell you there is zero way that he is 30. I also know this because I am friends with someone he went to high school with and that person is over 40.
The movement towards decriminilazation of marijuana does not need a person like this Bong Rip out in front showing people who are not familar with people who smoke showing a bunch of young kids sitting around doing nothing but smoking all the time and showing off T&A. Bong Rip has turned the movement into a forum for his own personal sexual delights. He has done nothing to advance the cause of decriminalization. The one and only thing he did that I can find is play in 2004 for a rally. The rally continued to take place year after year right in his home town, yet this so called advocate did not participate in any way, shape or form. Some advocate... like I said, he is a fraud.
Watch those people. Imagine if Jim Jones or Charlie Manson had the Internet at their disposal... scary thought, isn't it?
